Invitation to Our Social Subscribers

It is hard to believe, but it is already time to begin planning a new season of foxhunting events with the Blue Ridge Hunt.  I and Joint Masters, Linda Armbrust, Anne McIntosh and Doris Stimpson are pleased to invite you to join us as a Social Subscriber to the 2008-09 Blue Ridge Hunt season.  Our season runs from September to March, with numerous opportunities for our non-hunting friends and their families to enjoy the traditions and camaraderie that are so much a part of this exciting sport.  From dinner and dancing at the annual Hunt Ball, to the Stirrup Cup at opening meet, to tailgate parties at the Hunt’s annual Point-to-Point Race, Social Subscribers are invited to join in celebrating the time-honored traditions of foxhunting.

The Blue Ridge Hunt marks its 120th anniversary in 2008!  For over a century, The Hunt has committed itself to keeping alive the rich tradition of foxhunting, while striving to respect and protect the beautiful countryside it hunts.  Thanks in large part to 2007-08 Social Subscriber support, BRH built and repaired numerous Landowner coops and repaired Landowner fencing.  Three very successful (and fun!) “Leaky Roof” dinner parties raised funds with which we were able to repair the Huntsman’s kennels.  We were able to improve the Hound Ring at the kennels and to purchase a much-needed additional staff horse.  Last September marked the inaugural running of the Blue Ridge Fall Races.  We look forward to this race becoming one of the must-see events on every horse-racing fan’s calendar.
