Landowner Picnic

August 18, 2010

Summer is on the wane and our beloved sport will begin before we know it. I trust we are all getting our horses fit to prepare them for hunting which will begin on Saturday, August 28th. What better way to kick off the fall hunting season than to hold the Landowner's Barbecue on the first day of cub hunting. I realize this is a date change from previous years, however we didn't have much luck with the last date as far as the weather was concerned and it gets dark much earlier later in September. So I hope everyone appreciates the new date.

The event committee will need help setting up, preparing side dishes and desserts, and clearing the grounds afterwards. So please be generous with your time, talent, and treasure to make this event a success and show our appreciation to our dear landowners for without their kind generosity we would have no sport.

Although many Hunt Subscribers are landowners and deserve the thanks of all who cross their land under the Hunt's privilege, our non-hunting landowners particularly deserve our special gratitude and they have been invited to the Barbecue as guests of the Hunt. All Hunt Subscribers are asked to contribute $35 per person to help defray the expenses. The barbecue, rolls, beer, wine and soft drinks will be provided as well as entertainment by The Shenandoah Sheiks. Like last year, Peter and Beth Cook have been very gracious in allowing us to hold our event on the green of the Dower House from 6:00 to 9:00 PM.

All of you will have received by mail a form for RSVP. Please return to Terry Chandler, 1117 Salem Church Road, Boyce, VA 22620 with your check made payable to the Blue Ridge Hunt by August 21, 2010.
